![]() I am playing a pretty stealth oriented build in F4, and I feel like Skyrim had "easier" stealth than this. paid for it) the same way the Fallout scam is being rewarded by sales supported by a general and suspicious blindness by the critics. On the other hand you are displaying cognitive dissonance at its highest and being rewarded for it (i.e. If you think this kind of god mode is fun, just play deer hunter or any zombie shooter, it is fine, it is those games intent, but rewarding Fallout for its abysmal failure at being a Fallout is a crime (yes ). It is not "game design" at work or anything else, because Fallout new Vegas proved that it was possible with the same engine to do differently, it is laziness and the utmost and rewarded confidence that the game will sell like hotcakes to a brain damaged audience. ![]() It is not just stealth that is broken it is the whole general concept of variety and agency that has been removed from what is now a skyrim engine theme park.Įxcept this is not the skyrim engine but the Elder scroll (oblivion age) engine and ALL the things you try to rationalize about are already broken in those previous games. Try playing on the highest difficulty with no re-loads (except for bugs of course) and stealth could become a lot more tense, and like I say, mods should hopefully spring up pretty quick to make stealth gameplay more challenging.īasically you have spend so many words to artificially explain the fact that Fallout 4 is a bad game, especially in the Fallout context. If it's overpowered, then at least it means that you can play a power assassin at long last it's up to you if you want to increase the challenge. I don't think I've used stealth much in Fallout 3 or New Vegas at all, except to follow people or hide if a group of enemies was tougher than I expected I never really felt like playing a stealthy character could work. I suppose whatever it's faults, stealth at least feels more viable now in Skyrim I actually used stealth a lot more than I did in Oblivion (though I enjoyed the missions aimed at stealthy characters better in Oblivion, i.e- Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood). Of course there's only so much that's feasible, so Bethesda really do need to get their act together and design a proper stealth system (new movement abilities to unlock, distractions to use, better AI patrolling and response to sneak attacks etc.) but I expect some mods will make stealth a lot more enjoyable overall. It's definitely disappointing that stealth wasn't improved more, as it was my biggest gripe with Skyrim while melee, archery and magic all got major improvements, Stealth gameplay was pretty poor thanks to poor AI for patrolling and seeking, plus other annoyances like inconsistent ability to sneak effectively (sneaking outdoors is often impossible without invisibility).īut this is where mods usually come into their own it won't be long until mods come out to tweak the vanilla stealth mechanic, and later ones that will overhaul it more radically. I guess what matters most is whether it's still fun, and I think in general it is.
